About myself

I, Carola Busch, was born in Dresden in 1963 and have lived in Annaberg-Buchholz – the heart of the Erzgebirge Mountains – until 2000. In 1997, I switched from a “decent” commercial occupation to self-employment and made my hobby a profession.

Raised in the Erzgebirge Mountains, I truly love and respect the tradition and, over all, the handicraft with its high claim to quality – especially the Christmas objects that are carved or worked on a lathe. The detailed replications with their lovely miniatures turn the Erzgebirge Mountains into a Toyland before my eyes.

This is exactly what my pottery work expresses. Only because I have lived in the Erzgebirge Mountains and its tradition I am able to perform my handwork with all this love for the detail. The ability and patience to do this craftwork so devotedly were breathed into my soul and will stay with me forever. It’s a matter of my heart to produce my wares exclusively and painstakingly by hand, and I pass it on to my customers along with my products.

No casting moulds are used to produce these timeless replications. In more than 100 individual steps all of those small pieces are separately formed, jointed and manually painted or glazed. As a result, every product is a unique example.
